Draperstown manufacturer Bloc Blinds today announced a major supply deal with national retailer John Lewis.

It will mean the creation of 10 new jobs for the fast-growing company, based in its production base in Co Londonderry, which already employs 45 staff.

Bloc Blinds which up until now has focused predominately on trade business has now entered the retail consumer market with this deal with one of the UK’s largest retailers.

The deal secures Bloc Blinds’ position as one of the UK’s leading designers and manufacturers of innovative blind and skylight systems with its products now available through nationwide branches of John Lewis and at johnlewis.com.

Managing Director Cormac Diamond said: “We have worked hard to develop our innovative product range over the years, while continuing to invest in Bloc as a brand. As our first step onto the High Street we wanted to ensure that we looked for the right retail opportunity one that would appreciate our high level of innovation, and I’m pleased to say John Lewis saw our potential.

“This is a great opportunity with a national retailer and this valuable product recognition gives Bloc the perfect platform to develop its innovative product range going forward. Our manufacturing capabilities combined with our innovation and market expertise means that we are well positioned to deliver as a new category brand.”

The agreement will enable John Lewis shoppers the opportunity to purchase Bloc’s unique ‘Fabric Changer’ product, which allows homeowners to replace their blind designs with the latest season’s colour or special occasion design.

Bloc Blinds will also supply John Lewis customers with award winning cordless blackout Skylight blinds all which come in an extensive choice of colours.
