Finnish travel professionals give Northern Ireland a big thumbs up

Tourism Ireland invited the staff of a leading tour operator and travel agency from Finland, Kon-Tiki Tours, to visit Northern Ireland over the weekend.
The aim of their visit – organised in conjunction with Tourism NI – was to showcase Northern Ireland to Kon-Tiki staff members, so that when they return home they will be better equipped to advise their clients about holidays here.
Aileen Hickey, Tourism Ireland’s manager for the Nordic Region, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite the Kon-Tiki Tours team to come and visit Northern Ireland. There really is no substitute for being able to experience what Northern Ireland has to offer at first-hand; our aim is that when they return home, the Kon-Tiki Tours team will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business.
“Latest NISRA figures indicate that we welcomed an additional +8% visitors from Mainland Europe to Northern Ireland in the first quarter of 2015. Tourism Ireland is determined to ensure that growth continues and we have an extensive programme of promotions under way in the Nordic region throughout 2015. As well as highlighting Northern Ireland’s Game of Thrones connections, we are also promoting the Causeway Coastal Route, new visitor experiences like the refurbished Mount Stewart and iconic attractions such as Titanic Belfast.”
