Fujitsu, the leading Japanese information and communication technology (ICT) company, which offers a range of technology products, solutions and services to clients across Northern Ireland, has been shortlisted in the Education Partner Category for the upcoming Business in the Community Responsibility Awards.
Fujitsu was commended for helping raise the aspirations and achievements of young people through its solid business education partnerships with various organisations including career open days as well as ICT careers advice for graduates, teachers and lecturers.
Fujitsu employees were also applauded for its enthusiasm and dedication, with 60 members of staff volunteering 1,000 hours of their time to educational activities.
Greg McDaid, Client Managing Director, Fujitsu NI, said:
“We are delighted to be recognised for our continued involvement in education in Northern Ireland. We know the importance of developing a knowledge based economy here in Northern Ireland and our educational programmes are designed to nurture the necessary STEM and ICT skills from primary level right through to graduate level. Through the commitment of our team, we have offered a wide range of support – from careers advice to skills training – and it’s fantastic to have this effort recognised by Business in the Community.”
Chair of Business in the Community NI, Roy Adair, said:
“These are exciting times for business. Despite a number of challenging years during recession and although we still have to face the worst of the public sector cuts, the power of business to be a force for good must never be underestimated. It is heartening to see businesses here holding fast to their determination, not just to do the good business but to go the extra mile and do the right thing by their people, the planet and in the places where they operate. Our Awards celebrate companies who realise just how important their actions are to our society.”
The Business in the Community Responsibility Awards gala dinner will be held at the Belfast Waterfront Hall on Thursday 4th June.
