Greggs has today confirmed plans to open its first directly run shop in Northern Ireland, creating 12 new jobs. The move comes following the success of the first franchised shop at Applegreen’s Motorway Service Area on the M2, just outside Belfast.

This new store is to be located at the successful retail centre, Boucher Road Retail Park in Belfast. It is expected that the unit will be available for shop-fitting in early March 2016, with the store being opened a few weeks later.

Martin Kibler, Property Director at Greggs said: “This is an exciting ‘trial’ step for us as we open a directly-operated shop in Northern Ireland. We are delighted to acquire a unit in a very successful retail centre and look forward to welcoming customers in March.

“In addition to operating our own shop, we will continue to work closely with our franchise partner Applegreen Ireland and we expect to open further franchise sites next year.”
