Out of hours – Nikki Heywood

Name: Nikki Heywood, Regional Development Manager, Northern Ireland
Organisation: Specsavers
Golf course, gym or a cuppa?
I am a huge running enthusiast and it works as my therapy after a long day at work. I run for my local athletics club and have completed several marathons and half marathons this year. I am really getting stuck into the cross country season.
Day in the kitchen or night in a restaurant?
Going out for dinner is by far one of my favourite things to do.
Drive or be driven?
Drive! I drive so often with work and I travel around so much of the country that I truly believe I know best, so I am a bad passenger.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a westie called Vince-Chase. He truly owns the household and has both me and my partner wrapped around his little paw.
Favourite restaurant?
That’s easy. Café Essence in Bangor.
What did you want to be when you were little?
A skipping rope mender. I was aiming high at the time.
What are you afraid of?
I am an ambitious person and I do want it all, a career and a family. I appreciate that there is a lot of pressure on women to be a super mum and at the top of their game in business. I think that you can have it all but I will have to wait and see.
Who or what is your inspiration in life?
My other half Kris as he takes everything in his stride and always sees the best in people.
