Applications open for International Development Awards

Chair of the All-Party Group on International Development Jim Wells MLA and Vice-Chair, Anna Lo have launched this year’s International Development Awards which will take place on 3 April at Parliament Buildings. The closing date for applications is 17 February.
The awards, in their fourth year, were launched with the help of Oxfam, Concern, Habitat for Humanity, Fields of Life and Christian Aid.
Held in association with NI-CO, a not for profit, public organisation that supports the commercialisation of public sector information, the awards seek to recognise and celebrate the different ways which people have contributed to international development across Northern Ireland and to acknowledge the efforts of those leading the way in the field here.
The awards night presents winners, nominees and supporters with a unique opportunity to share their experiences and promote the value of developing a regional strategy for international development in Northern Ireland.
This year, the awards panel is inviting nominations from sectors covering nine categories, including; ‘Best NGO Campaign’, ‘Lifetime achievement’ award and ‘Outstanding Volunteer’.
The Chair of the All Party Group on International Development, Jim Wells MLA enjoys the opportunity to recognise the successes of NGOs from Northern Ireland across the world.

The Vice-Chair of the All Party Group, Anna Lo MLA encouraged individuals and organisations to nominate an individual or a group who is making a positive difference to an overseas community.
“The All Party Group on International Development is searching for nominations for individuals or groups who have made a sustainable difference in their field. We will consider a wide variety of action, paid or voluntary. There are nine categories this year which will celebrate the achievement of great number of ambassadors for International Development in Northern Ireland”.
