Tasty GB deal for local food company

Dunmurry based Tasty Foods Cuisine has been assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to win its first business in Great Britain.
The family-owned and managed business has won a listing from Tesco GB that will see two of its sauce concentrates, Authentic Curry Paste and Authentic Gravy Paste, on the shelves of almost 250 stores throughout Britain from 1 January 2014.
Welcoming this success, John Hood, Invest NI Food and Tourism Director said: “Tasty Foods has benefited from our programme of ‘Meet the Buyer’ events.
“Over many years, we’ve been bringing buyers from food retail and wholesale operations in Britain, the Republic of Ireland, and other parts of Europe, the Middle East and the US to Northern Ireland to meet with local food and drink companies. We also support companies to attend international exhibitions to access potential partners.
“Such events are an integral part of our strategic focus on assisting and encouraging our food and drink companies to explore and to exploit business opportunities outside Northern Ireland.” he added.
Mr Conor Daykin, founder of Tasty Foods Cuisine said: “The new business in Britain builds on our relationship with Tesco Northern Ireland over many years. With help and encouragement from the Tesco team here and Invest NI we were introduced to the key buyer from the supermarket’s team at its Cheshunt headquarters and given the opportunity to present a number of our products.
“As a result of this presentation, Tesco GB has listed two of our sauce pastes for sale in Britain. This is an immensely encouraging development for us and will provide a platform for continued growth of the business especially in Britain, a key target market for us in 2014.
“We believe that there are significant opportunities there for our portfolio of premium quality foods which are based on our own recipes and use only the best available ingredients,” he added.
