Artisan goods, decadent delights and creative curios are set to feature at this year’s Sunflowerfest, with organisers announcing that they are close to capacity having been inundated with requests from traders across the UK and Ireland to take part in the weekend festival from 22nd – 25th August.
Following the success of last year’s event, which showcased some of the best food, drink, arts and crafts and featured unusual delights like vegan treats and chilli chai, ice-creams with names like buzzy bee and superman and funky clothing, vintage and holistic art and craft stalls, organisers are calling on traders to get in touch now if they wish to showcase their wares to some 6,000 plus festival-goers on Tubby’s Farm in Hillsborough.
Michael Magowan, Sunflowefest said, “We are absolutely delighted with the interest in trading at the festival this summer. We have worked hard to build up the reputation of the festival, not just as one for music, but also as a lifestyle weekend that allows people to escape from the hustle and bustle of life and soak up and sample the best of Northern Ireland’s amazing artists, food producers and craftsmen and women.
“Last year our traders reported fantastic sales from across the weekend and many of them have returned due to their success. Independent traders and businesses are the lifeblood of the economy and we want to help them showcase their wares and potentially tap into a new customer base.”
Now in its fifth year, Sunflowerfest is one of the highlights of the festival season featuring a range of family-friendly activities as well as musical performances from international artists.
“As well as the fantastic line-up of traders, we have headline performances from County Down natives The Answer and London electronica group The Orb, and of course one of the biggest programme of family-friendly activities to feature at a festival as well as the chill out area, Lighthouse Bliss which offers a wide range of complementary therapies and workshops. We do still have some pitches left, but they are filling up fast so get in touch to find out more.”
Sunflowerfest kindly acknowledges the assistance of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and Lisburn City Council in the production of this year’s event and welcomes SOS Bus NI as the festival’s official charity partner.
