Hughes Insurance achieves Aldermanbury Declaration

Hughes Insurance, Northern Ireland’s largest independent insurance broker, has achieved The Aldermanbury Declaration, a practical initiative endorsed by The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to embed professionalism in the insurance industry. The local company is one of the first insurance brokers in Northern Ireland to receive the Declaration.
The Aldermanbury Declaration has been designed to significantly raise the profile of professional standards across the insurance market – throughout the UK. It is achieved by focusing on practical measures centred around developing staff skills and driving professionalism. To date 115 employees at Hughes Insurance have either gained or are studying towards CII qualifications – all managed through the bespoke Hughes Insurance Training and Development Department.
The Declaration follows the recent 5 Star Defaqto Rating awarded to Hughes Insurance by a leading independent financial research company. The Newtownards based company was the first broker in Northern Ireland to receive this coveted rating – which effectively rubber stamps the Hughes Insurance product as ‘best in class’.
The Aldermanbury Declaration represents another step forward for Hughes Insurance, which is rapidly approaching 40years at the forefront of the local insurance sector.
Gareth Brady, Chief Executive of Hughes Insurance commented: “The Aldermanbury Declaration is the result of three years of dedication by the staff here at Hughes Insurance – they have invested time and energy in developing their skills as insurance industry experts by working towards CII qualifications. I believe the Declaration tells our customers that their needs are being addressed by the best staff in the business whilst the Defaqto 5 Star Rating positions our product as truly best in class. We are delighted to receive the Declaration which continues our longstanding tradition of innovation in the insurance sector.”
Hughes Insurance commitment to innovation over the years has seen them develop a number of pioneering initiatives to cement their position in the Northern Ireland market. The company was the first insurance company in Northern Ireland to advertise on television, the first to develop a now award winning generically branded insurance product, the first to create an extensive panel of insurance providers bespoke to this market and the first to operate a locally based telesales operation.
