Warrenpoint medical supply company has secured its first major deal in the Middle East.

Clonallon Laboratories Ltd, which supplies a wide range of custom sterile procedure packs, surgical instruments and medical supplies to the healthcare industry, has won a contract to supply £250,000 worth of procedure packs in Kuwait.

Minister Arlene Foster outlined the company’s first major deal in this region at the start of a five-day Invest NI trade mission to United Arab Emirates, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The Minister said: “Clonallon Laboratories has been growing steadily for a number of years, thanks to its excellent reputation for prompt supply of products under very tight deadlines and its investment in new product development.

“Its aim is to achieve significant export sales growth, and this contract is a significant milestone on that journey.”

Invest NI is supporting the creation of seven new jobs in management, administration and production roles, allowing Clonallon to increase its capacity to service the rising sales.

Arlene Foster added: “Invest Northern Ireland is keen to support small companies like Clonallon Laboratories that have the potential to scale up through increasing exports and investing in innovation. Invest NI will continue to work closely with Clonallon to support its growth plans.

“Trade missions offer the opportunity for companies to explore opportunities to do business in important export markets. This trip will help to strengthen our ties with the Emirati and Omani business communities and provide an opportunity to raise the profile of Northern Ireland as a great place in which to visit, to study and to work.”

Dermot Dempster, who set up the company in 2002, said: “This is an exciting development for the company and follows a concerted effort to develop export sales. Last year, with Invest Northern Ireland’s support, we undertook an extensive marketing campaign to target new business outside Northern Ireland. This contract is one result of that activity.”

Based in Milltown Industrial Estate, Warrenpoint, Clonallon Laboratories operates a state-of-the-art clean room under stringent international accreditations. It currently employs 11 people.
