Victoria Square is set to get a little bit healthier with the opening of the second Slim’s Healthy Kitchen within the centre and will employ five full-time and four part-time staff after an investment of £20,000 by the local company.

Slim’s Healthy Mini Kitchen will operate from the former customer services booth on the lower ground floor. The mini kitchen will serve an array of fresh fruit and vegetable juices and shakes complemented by nutritious tray bakes and protein bars.

The company already occupies a unit in Victoria Square on Chichester Street opening just over a year ago. It serves many of the surrounding office workers who seek a healthier alternative to lunchtime classics to sit-in or on the go.

Slim said, “We have seen a huge surge in demand for juices and shakes over the past year that we are making this offering much more accessible to those who are seeking a refreshing drink bursting with flavour and nutrients. Our juices and shakes are all made to order in less than a minute and there are over fifty menu choices to choose from. Our aim is to target shoppers and the fitness goers who attend the rising number of gyms in the city centre”.

Michelle Greeves, Victoria Square centre manager commented, “Slim’s Healthy Kitchen is one of Victoria Square’s success stories and we are delighted to support this local business with the next phase of their continued expansion plans”.

The business was founded by 31 year old Gary McIldowney, also known as Slim on Belfast’s Lisburn Road during the summer of 2013 and has since gone on to open further outlets in Belfast’s Victoria Square. The business will expand further with the opening of an additional restaurant on Belmont Road in the east of the city in the next few weeks with a further investment of £200k and an increase of 35 full and part-time staff.
