Supermarket Senator is top of the Q
Senator Feargal Quinn, founder of the Superquinn supermarket chain and presenter of the R.T.E. series, Feargal Quinn’s Retail Therapy, has pushed his way to the top of ‘The Q’ and has been presented with The C-Store Champion Award sponsored by The Q Mark for his tireless contribution to Ireland’s retail industry and customer service, and all at the age of 77.
Irene Collins, the Managing Director of Excellence Ireland Quality Association, which is The Proud Guardian of The Q Mark was on hand to present the trophy, she said, “Feargal Quinn is a true hero of the Irish consumer. He has consistently set the standards that all other supermarkets should be aiming for.”
She went on to say that it was “indeed an honour to have The Q Mark and The Senator in the same room, as given the serious concerns that many of us now have in relation to who is protecting us when it comes to quality testing and best practice, it is refreshing to know that The National Q Mark was continuing in the spirit of the great work that Senator Quinn had started when his Superquinn chain of stores had become the first supermarkets in the world to guarantee the absolute traceability of all its beef from pasture to plate, using TraceBack, a revolutionary system developed at Trinity College, Dublin by IdentiGEN.
